USS McMorris Commissioning Poem
U.S.S. MCMORRIS DE-1036
12-16 WATCH / 1500 HRS.
'Twas the fourth of March - one nine six oh
We're tied up portside to pier ALFA, you know
The lines are standard - and doubled for sure
Charleston Naval Shipyard is the place of our moor
The people came from here and away
For the USS Mc Morris was commissioned today
The ship was sparkling - Bright as a penny
for our captain was to be Martin "M" Zenni
Dignitaries - certainly - why shouldn't there be
COMINLINT was there - Admiral Varian, D.C.
And Admiral McManes - COMSIX his position
Did the honors of giving McMorris commission
The weather was cool - but pride warmed the heart
As the commissioning pennant was broken real smart
The orders were read and the first watch was set
'Twas a day that those present will never forget
There followed a party - A good one you know
'Twas the day for McMorris to put on a show
and though it might be the first it won't be the last
For McMorris - You see - Just won't be surpassed
